Muslim Youth of MN (MYM) was established in 1997 by a few committed individuals, who felt the vacuum that existed in our community in the area of reaching out and the nurturing of youth, the future generation of Muslims.

Realizing the social challenges that the Muslim youth faces in a society, MYM founders focused on providing “fun” permissible alternatives to activities that don’t correspond to our faith.

In addition to recreation and sporting events, MYM is and has provided unconventional educational opportunities, service and leadership opportunities, college scholarships, Mentorship, and community outreach opportunities for Muslim youth of MN.  The focus of MYM is Muslim teenagers in junior highs and senior highs.

The goals of MYM are:

¨ Promote and Preserve unity and joint action among the Muslims.

¨ Conduct social, cultural, religious and other activities in the best traditions of Islam.

¨ Promote friendly relations between Muslims and non-Muslims.

¨ Provide leadership training to assist the Muslim Youth to be able to contribute towards the betterment of their communities.

¨ To establish and provide attractive and viable alternatives to un-Islamic youth activities

¨ To establish “non-conventional” ways to educate the youth about Islam

¨ To foster mentorship and brotherhood between younger and older youth

¨ To inculcate respect for parents, families, and elders

¨ To communicate to our community the significance of youth

¨ To educate the community and our neighbors about the true teachings of Islam

This is the generation that will, Insha'Allah (God Willing), educate and build bridges of understanding with their non-Muslim friends about Islam.

At MYM, we feel it is past due that Muslims of the USA look to the future and plan for the future.  Today’s Muslim youth are the future leaders of this community.  Ample energy, resources and money should be spent to encourage the youth and to provide them with necessary skills to become exemplary Muslims.
